The author also relied on past issues of the "Michigan High School Directory", published annually in November by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). The directories were used to verify: 1). what leagues were in existence for each school year, 2). what schools had athletic programs sanctioned by the MHSAA, and 3). what class (based on each school's enrollment figures) each school participated in for a specific school year.
